Hollywood is here..Help!!

I had to make a quick trip to the store this morning. Our little town of 3,000 is a mess!! Hollywood has overtaken it! 20th Century Fox is here filming a new Denzel Washington film, called "Unstoppable". It is about a train wreck of some sort. Anyways, they have several streets blocked and equipment trucks everywhere. Our only grocery store now has a tiny parking lot. The rest is yellow-ribboned off. Hundreds of strangers are all over, and are rude. I filled my gas tank, got extra essentials, and hastily got the heck out of there!! I don't intend to return until they are gone(which is the end of the week). Not only are they here, but many local people are swarming to try to get a glimpse of someone famous. Noone is directing traffic, and people walk right out in front of cars. When I came out of the store, about 7 people I have never seen were literally sitting on my car. They thought it was rude of me when I politely said,"excuse me". Enough already! Hopefully they get done and move on. Our little town doesn't need Hollywood disrupting our lives! I am sure that I am the minority in this way of thinking..thanks for letting me vent!

If anyone wants to read our area paper today,there is an article about the movie and a photo showing only a small portion of equipment on one of our streets. The store mentioned in Turtlepoint,"Carlson's", is where I used to work.The web address for the paper is www.bradfordera.com

Recently Extreme Makeover, Home Edition was in our area building a new home for a family. The streets were blocked off, so we couldn't even get to our friends house so I can sympathize with you. I guess its just the price we have to pay since we like the reality shows. They were only in the area for one week so small price to pay to help someone who needed it.

As a follow up...they are now literally "down the tracks" from town. I live on a backroad between the two places they are filming. Our tri-axle dumptruck hauls out of the next "victim" . Hollywood is building a new road from the asphalt plant so as not to interupt their schedule!!! Excuse me, but blacktop can only be made, hauled , and laid at certain temperatures. Where do these idiots get off dictating the livelyhood of citizens? I am so angry, the whole area is on some sort of holding pattern for them. If we, as independent truckers, cannot haul because of a stupid movie, is 20th Century Fox or Denzel Washington going to pay our overhead? LOL!! I hardly think so!!! Do they care? LOL!! I hardly think so!! I will NEVER see this film, I will NEVER tell others to see it, I selfishly hope it is a boxoffice bomb. I know I should not be so cruel, but Hollywood is messing with a town with a huge unemployment rate..several factories have closed in the last 3 yrs.. When they came they promised monetary gain for the community. HA! They have everything they need...many, many 5th wheel campers and a HUGE catering business (all from LA), they are putting no money into our town..just inconvenience and rudeness. I won't discuss this anymore here(they ain't no use beatin' a dead horse!), I will say,however, if you are a small town and Hollywood wants in..think twice(or three,four,five&six)!!

Wow... the local law enforcement obvioiusly need to get involved, for the safety of ALL involved!

Actually, they are there..they just aren't doing anything except watching!! The cars and ambulances sit there with flashing lights and the personnel is away from them "gawking" like everyone else! Go figure!! I can't understand why a celebrity can turn ordinarily reasonable people into a bunch of blubbering fools.....

Ugh... morons. About 4 years ago, I had to spend a week on Ohio State's campus for some training I was receiving. It amazed me, the utter disregard of traffic-lights! The kids would just walk right out in front of cars, etc without a second glance. And what option did the cars have but to stop and let them? Maybe I am just sheltered...I went to a private college, discreetly nestled into scenic MO.
