I'm not sure if this is where I should ask this question, but here goes. I made some everlasting coleslaw from an Amish cookbook. It was real good but made alot. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the coleslaw can be canned?
Thank you
Sandi

Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
Is this the recipe with the gelatin (plain)?
Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
No there isn't any gelatin in my recipe. Just cabbage, green pepper, carrot, onion, vinegar, sugar and some spices.
Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
Thank you for your suggestions. I will try to freeze it then.

Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
I don't think you can "can" it. Freezing would be the better choice.
Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
I agree with Diann. The coleslaw will freeze okay, but canning it is apt to make it more like sauerkraut. Even if it didn't do that it would probably get mushy.
Re: Amish Everlasting Coleslaw
I don't know about canning it, but I read that it can be frozen, if that helps?
