I got your email about this, but I just don't think that recipe came from here...Lovina, being Amish, doesn't have a crockpot...nor would she used packaged gravy...so I think the recipe must have appeared elsewhere in the News Tribune....
Re: Wanted Recipe
Ingredients:
2 1/2 pounds cube steak
Salt
Pepper
Flour
1 package onion gravy mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups water
Directions:
Salt & pepper cube steaks & dredge in flour, fry until brown. Place in crock-pot. Add gravy mix, soup, & water. Cover & cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Note: I mixed the gravy mix, soup, & water in a bowl before adding to crock-pot. I thought this might help make the gravy smoother & it did.
or here is another one you could try, both are good,
4 cube steaks
1 package brown gravy mix
1 package onion soup mix
Directions:
Brown steaks in oil.
Place in crockpot with mixes and enough water to cover. Cook on low 5-6 hours.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
