The Amish Cook from Oasis Newsfeatures

Amish Life/Romance Novels

I am a very big "book-worm" and found, by accident, this wonderful series.  I love to go to the library and was running short on what to read, if you can believe that!  I ran across this book series by Beverly Lewis and they are awesome.  I absolutely love the Amish and love the hard but honest living.  If only I was born into a community such as this. Almost everything I cook or bake is homemade and am always looking for more self sufficient ways to live.  Gardening is my passion, so is canning, preserving food, etc.  If you like to read, please try this author, it will transport you into the Amish way of life and at the same time give you a little love story to go along with it. Happy reading.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

Love the fiction books as well and can't put them down once started...... I did want to mention for those of you that don't know about paperbackswap.  You post 9 books your willing to part with and you can then ask for any book and they will find a member who has it and it will be sent to your mailbox. If you have any questions feel free to write me at [email protected].   Amish enthusiest.     I get amish books, cookbooks and the like free in the mail.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

I enjoy reading these also. My public library has a great selection...saves me a lot of money since I don't have to buy them.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

My favorite is Wanda Brunstetter!  But I think between Mom and I we have books by all the authors listed above.  It's our way of enjoying Amish life when we can't actually visit Holmes County. Laughing

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

There is currently an explosion in the Amish fiction genre.  For a good look at how many there currently all go to christianbook.com and type in "Amish Fiction" and a whole list comes up.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

Yep ditto to all of the above. I have read ALL of the books. can hardly wait until their next one comes out. I then donate them to the local charities who are happy to get good clean reading.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

Good on you for being able to donate your favorite books to others!  I get all sentimental and keep them around to read and re-read ;-)

As soon as I got through the first chapter, I couldn't put it down!!  I read the whole book that day, then I went to the library and got the rest of the series.  I only have 1 book left, lol.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

I grew up in northern Indiana and loved the Amish people. When I found Beverly Lewis books about the Amish, I could not put them down.  I read one after the other!  She really draws you into the story.  My mother came from a Pennsylvania Dutch background and my father had a Swiss background.  There were a lot of similarities such as recipes, words I hadn't heard since childhood.

Re: Amish Life/Romance Novels

Try Wanda Brunstetter and a new one Beth Wiseman.  Carrie Bender also.
