Just curious...

I have a question.  Do Amish women carry purses?

Re: Just curious...

Every year our community has town wide yard sales.  Amish ladies and sometimes men come to them.  (Hey, they like bargains too!Smile ) Many of the ladies stop at mine.

I have never seen one with a purse just small black change purses or wallets.  I will look next year and see.

Re: Just curious...

Any that I have seen are the plain, black variety..much like our(at least mine) grandmother's carried back in the 60's. Of course, that is just my observation.

Re: Just curious...

Sundries:  gum, mints, perhaps a pen, a band-aid, loose change, scrap piece of paper, nothing terribly interesting!   And in most cases the purses will just be bought at the local Amish store that sells the shoes, suspenders, and hats that they buy....I suppose in some places they might buy them from Wal-Mart or Dollar General, but the Amish store would be the most likely place....

Re: Just curious...

I was teasing.  I was just curious about how much the average guy knows about the contents of women's purses : )

i think that you may have gotten lucky with our editor.  he seems to have a good head on his shouldersWink

Re: Just curious...

I have always had a penchant for The Sak purses, which tend to be crocheted.  Do Amish women knit/crochet?  I only remember reading about the quilting/sewing.

Re: Just curious...

Now I am more curious... where do the Amish women buy their purses?

Re: Just curious...

Great question!  Now U'm curious, too.  Fill us in, Kevin.

Re: Just curious...

Well, I can only got with what I've seen....the answer is: yes.   Now, I can only go with what I have seen (lest the naysayers come calling)...they do carry purses, but you aren't going to find a woman carrying a Louis Vuitton or Coach bag....Black purses about the size of a loaf of bread are fairly common, just enough to keep checkbook, house-keys,and other sundries.

Re: Just curious...

Kevin...What do you mean, "sundries?"  Smile
