The Amish Cook from Oasis Newsfeatures

I'll say it again ... I absolutely meant no offense to anyone, anywhere.  I wasn't poking fun at the "Cow Plop Drop" event nor at the Amish wedding dinner being offered as a prize.  What struck me as odd -- and therefore a bit humorous -- was the combination of the two, especially since the dinner is a wedding dinner.  If it had just been an Amish dinner at an Amish home, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.  But a wedding dinner?  I realize it's "Amish wedding season" (i.e., post-harvest time), but what if the person who wins is already married?  What if they're single but don't want to get married??  What happens then?  (*joke*)  If I inadvertently stepped on anyone's toes, I apologize.

I think it was all meant in good clean fun.  However, Cleveland used to be called "the mistake on the lake". (no offense to those from there)

I think the way it was worded is the key here.

And I certainly didn't mean to be offensive to anyone ... it just struck me as being an odd combination, too.  But this is what a friend in Lancaster County told me: 

"Ah! Cow Pie Bingo! Very popular here. As for getting an Amish dinner for having the lucky drop, yeah, that might not be real appetizing to some, but honestly, people that live around farm animals hardly give it a second thought. If you  could have seen some of the situations I used to work in at the farms, and how we would get hungry and eat a sandwich while we were covered in cow manure, it might not be too appealing, but we always thought of it as a clean sort of dirty as compared to an industrial sort of dirty."

I thought Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize was the most outrageous thing you had ever heard of.  I'm with chukubabee...I'm not sure what the big deal is here.  It's not like they are forcing this on the Amish family who's hosting the prize dinner.  Let's stop jumping to conclusions.
