Rhubarb-strawberry sauce..
Today has been busy, I have been blanching and freezing asparagus. While doing that, I put a batch of rhubarb-stawberry sauce in my crockpot. It is simple. I used 12 cups of rhubarb, 2 cups of sugar, 1 qt. bag of frozen strawberries(left from last season), 1 pt. jar of applesauce(also from last season), 3 small cinnamon sticks , and abt 1/2 tsp. of ginger. I set the crockpot on high , just until the berries defrost, then switch to low. I'll cook it about 5or 6 hrs. or until the rhubarb is tender. Then I'll cold-pack it for 10 minutes. Because rhubarb is so acidic, it doesn't require a long process time. This sauce is good on ice cream, or as a cake topping.

Barb, this does sound like a great recipe - cheeseburger in a can aside! I'll have to share this with Lovina!

Tom, I'm sure it would improve the flavor, 100%!
Re: Rhubarb-strawberry sauce..
Bet ya it would go good over my Cheeseburger in a can...
Re: Rhubarb-strawberry sauce..
if you have ever eaten an MRE, then you should be afraid, be very afraid, cheeseburger in a can even sounds worse than MRE's and believe me, they are rather disgusting and gross.....
Re: Rhubarb-strawberry sauce..
My son actually enjoys MREs at least he did while he was in ROTC.
