Next step:

Making your own laundry detergent/soap!

Have you tried it yet???

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

No, not yet, but I do have a bottle of blueing that I've been wanting to try!  We haven't even made a rock garden from it yet, need to do that too!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Yes, I do! I have the "recipe" posted on rfdPa if anyone wants to try it. It is all that I use!!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Hey, KJuneBug, my new picture is finally showing up on my end today! Still not as clear as I'd hoped, but better than the last, I think.

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

About the kids' clothesline... Could you just string a short line on the ends of a swingset or other place for them just when they need/want one? That way the lower line won't affect lawnmowing or other activities.

*shrug*

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

We have a stand alone wood framed swing, that GREAT Smile idea wouldn't work.Frown  They haven't asked in a few days, it rained for a day or two.

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

I thought it was shift and refresh, and I tried that, but I am still seeing the old picture.  :(

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

That does sound familiar - well, just know that you look beautiful on this end!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Thanks, KJuneBug, but it's not showing up here! I'm still seeing the "old" photo. Anyone have any ideas why??? I wasn't happy with the other pic - it wasn't clear.

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Yes, that happened with me too when I would switch images - BFending says that you push "shift" with and this part I forgot, another key - maybe he could remind us!!! This clears things up and refreshes whatever, I know my computer lingo is way over the top!!!

Hey, your picture is missing, KJuneBug! I liked it!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Hey, I like your new picture Diann!!!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Thanks, Diann - I got tired of looking at myself!!  I figured that most of you saw it, now you have a visual. Eventually I'll find something interesting to add as a photo...

Here's a photography tip about photographing women; I learned this in a photo class once - When photographing women (that would be me and you!!!) have the person with the camera shoot from above the subject, it helps with chinny chin chin issues, and a few other things too.

Looking Good!!!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Thanks! You guys are nice! I made a clothespin bag several years ago, I used an inexpensive wooden embroidery hoop for the top.  My little girlies just read a "Wee Lambs" story (it's a weekly church letter) about disappearring clothespin bag, the Momma made the girls in the story a clothes pin apron.  I'll probably make the girls each a clothespin apron.

My little one says, "you know in the missing clothespins story, the Momma made a lower clothes line for the girls to hang stuff, Momma?  I said, "would you like a little clothes line down low for you?"  "Oh, yes, Momma!"  So now I have to figure out a way and where to put a lower line!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Your clothesline is perfect! And I know that you will get a great deal of use from all the lines. I know you said you had a shelf for things but thought I'd pass this on to you. I have one of those "umbrella" style, fold-away clotheslines that is put up for the task and put away when done. But I needed something for my clothes pins. I'm using one of my shorter shepard hooks with a canvas bag to hold the pins. That way I can either take what I need or put away as I go, all the while turning the clothesline. I know that yours doesn't move, but it would hold a bagfull of pins! My Mother used to use a carpenters apron to hold her pins, but she would still need to refill as needed from the "clothes pin pail" we had. You probably have your own system, but thought I'd pass this along. Blessings!  Suzanne

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

I took one of my daughter's baby dresses(12 mo. size) and made a clothespin bag out of it. She is soon to be 27!! It was too cute to discard, and at the time I did it I had no granddaughters. It wasn't hard to do, and is a nice piece of memorabilia!!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

What a great idea Barb! I also thought of another clothespin bag. We have a volunteer that makes WheelChair bags from old blue jeans. You cut off the legs just about the crotch area and sew the seams together so that it looks like shorts. Then take the leg cutoffs and cut 4 " strips down the pantleg. Sew the long seam on both of these and then fasten to the sides of the  pants. This makes 2 loops to hang the bag from the wheelchair handles.  If you made it like this and hung it on one of those hangers that has the strap holes in it, you would  have a good size bag. Or if you made a longer strap from the cutoff pantlegs, attach this to the sides of the bag, you could hang this also. Amazing what you think of at night!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Ooooh those memories!  I could almost smell the "fresh-air" sheets on my bed.  I haven't had a clothesline since I lived at home 40 years ago, but when I read your blog, I could just about smell the sheets and pillowcases!  Thanks!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Hey , I like your idea of setting the poles in the 5 gal. buckets. I think sacrete would work better that way! I have to tell my hubby, as in our clay soil it is hard to keep it from cracking. I also like your description of crunchy towels..that's too cute! I can relate to that! Also, your photos are good!!

Re: Yeah! We Used the Clothesline!

Barb, a note: We did need to secure the poles from behind, we found that when loaded with items, the poles wanted to drop inward. We secured each pole with rope, one to the fence and the other on the house, as the dirt was a bit soft.
