Sign up for AmishCookTV and get a free ebook copy of The Original Amish Cook Cookbook. This is the classic, our first cookbook, 192 pages of recipes, stories, and Amish artwork.  Written by the original Amish Cook, Elizabeth Coblentz and Kevin Williams.

The Amish Cook CookbookVideos are a popular part of this site and allow people to "experience" aspects of Amish culture in a way words and still pictures can't capture. We have an exciting package of educational, insightful, and hopefully fun "video tours" available this year (August 2009 - June 2010). Amish and Mennonites are generally familiar with my work, and they trust me to present their environment in an educational and respectful way.  Because of this, I’m often given photographic access to areas that many other journalists don’t get.  Most of the videos are 5 – 7 minutes in length, so they’re pretty "watchable", although some may be a bit longer.

Following are some of the planned videos:

Visit to an Amish home the evening prior to church services being held,Visit inside an Old Order Amish one-room schoolhouse, Tour of an Amish Buggy Shop, Visit to a Harness Shop, Visit to a Swartzentruber Amish basket shop, video of an Amish wedding (the cakes, gifts, set-up), meal-time at Lovina's, Lovina's quilt collection, and much more.  A visit to a Hutterite colony is one I'd like to include, but that is not set yet. Also part of the video package:

COOKING DEMONSTRATION: Amish Wedding Pastries:  In some communities these are known as “knee patches”, in others they are called “nothings.”  Watch a cooking demonstration of these unique pastries being prepared.

AMISH IN THE NEWS: a 15 minute weekly newscast anchored by Kevin Williams covering all the latest news in Amish-Mennonite country.  This debuts in September and will be tried on an experimental basis.  If the response is good, it'll be weekly, if not, monthly.

Allow 24 hours to receive your first video after subscribing.  Your first video will be the Amish church video.  To subscribe to AmishCookTV and begin receiving the videos, simply click the "DONATE" button to the right under the photo of the coffee mug (some people may have to scroll down to find this button) and enter the amount you wish to pay to subscribe to AmishCookTV. The economy is horrible now so I'm not going to give this year-long video package a price for the next month.  You pay what you can afford and what you think AmishCookTV is worth for the entire year and you'll begin receiving the videos by email within 24 hours.  The name your own price  for the year-long pass will stay in effect until Sept. 30.  Effective Oct. 1 the price will be $50 for a year-long pass.

People with slow dial-up connections that can't watch video very well online, these videos will be made available to you via snail mail on DVD. Simply request that option when you sign up.

People who order the 1 year package on DVD will receive a "Year in Review" newscast instead of weekly installments of Amish in the News.  The DVD will be mailed in June at the end of the season.

To enroll by snail mail send checks to: Oasis Newsfeatures, PO BOX 2144, Middletown, Ohio 45042

Re: Sign Up For AmishCookTV Here...

My family loved the hot potato casserole.  Thank you for sharing it.

Re: Sign Up For AmishCookTV Here...

Sign me up. What do I have to do?

Re: Sign Up For AmishCookTV Here...

Just click the "donate" button to the right side of the screen, name your price, and within 24 hours you'll have your ebook and first videos!  And, yes, name your own price is still open!

Re: Sign Up For AmishCookTV Here...

i love the Amish Cook in the local newspaper. Is the name your price still an option? I am low/fixed income & can't afford a big price. Healthy information, & informaiton that is moral is increasingly hard to come by. I'm just now finding out about this being online. I think it's wonderful. I wonder if any of the Amish women have thought about a penpal.? Or would that be allowed?

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

I am already a member.  I have been since last year.  When will the DVD's be mailed out regarding the Swartzendruber sect?

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Having problems copying the DVD, which has resulted in a delay....they should be going out beginning next week....I will send an email to all AmishCookTV subscribers when they begin shipping.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

I am SO EXCITED to watch your videos.  My friend and I are HUGE fans of the Amish Cook.  Absolutely LOVED the garden tour.  Have you recovered from biting into the hot pepper???

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Re: the hot peppers... Personally, I'm allergic to them and I would have fallen over dead.  Mushrooms, too.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

LOL!  I loved the garden video, too!  Can't wait to see upcoming videos!  Keep up the good work, Kevin!

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Kevin,

I wanted to check if the year long video package applies to me.  I recently renewed my "Friend's Club' membership(actually did it a second time also, because I'm so absentminded I forgot I'd already renewed!).

On another note, I wonder if you ever hear from Apostolic Christian folks?   Though they were a later group from Germany and Switzerland, many of the beliefs and tenets are quite similiar.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Seeing about the harness shop reminds me that my great great grandpa came from Germany in about 1840 to Hardin County and that is what he did.  Harness making.  His last name was Gerlach.  I work with handicapped kids and two amish girls ride my bus, and then one of the is in my class I help in.  One can't talk, and the other one is just learning to walk. She is doing very well.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

hello kevin,

we are Amish and we are in our neighbor's barn on their computer.  we would like to see the video's, but will not be able to sign up to buy them. is it possible for you to place all of the video's online so that your Amish friends can watch also.  all of the young people here always find a way to look at the computer, so i think that some of them would like this.

                                 GOD'S BLESSED DAY TO YOU

                                        ELI and REBEKKA

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

You can sign up and any price to watch, which is a pretty reasonable price:)  And if you're Amish you probably shouldn't be watching TV/videos anyway:)

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

dear kevin,

we Amish who are now gathered in our neighbor's barn and on their computer are going to say a group prayer for you and yours.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Well, thank you much - I can probably use it:)

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

dear kevin,

we are glad that you are helping the outside world see how we live, in peace and harmony with the land and the LORD. please forgive for our outspoken ways in the earlier writings. we do enjoy the work that you are doing for all Amish in our country.  we are still learning how this thing works and we were not serious about the tv and videos.

                                                             BLESSED

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

I just posted it to my profile on facebook.  Sure hope there will be some interest generated from that. When folks get back in the groove from summer vacations and having to pack up for daytrips and otherwise to keep the children entertained, I would bet there will be more interest then.

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Kevin, does the year-long video package apply to all of us who have already previously paid our "dues", too?   Wink

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

Well, Diann, I am sort of making this all up as I go along to be honest....I was originally including these videos as part of the Friend Club, but now I'm just splitting them out and making them separate....but don't worry, you're good....you don't need to pay more, Friend Club members get the videos as part of the Friend Club.....

Re: AmishCookTV: A Tour Through Amish Country....

I am assuming that this means that my father is set also.

Re: Updated: AmishCookTV

I have a question about the videos. Once we get them do we have them forever or will they be taken off after a period of time. Like the time you put the whistler site on.  You only had it on for a short time then it was gone?

Re: Updated: AmishCookTV

From the link, you are instructed to download to your computer.  I have my video saved in iTunes...even though it isn't formatted to upload to my iPod, I can still watch it there whenever I want :-)

Re: Updated: AmishCookTV

Good question.  The videos are copyrighted, so they can't be distributed, resold, etc, however, once you have the link, it's yours forever, indefinitely, or until a new technology comes along and makes them obsolete...not a time limit.

Re: Updated: Amish Cook TV

THANK YOU - WOW

Oh I forgot to ask if you are putting this info on facebook???
