Do the Amish work harder than the rest of us?

Re: Do the Amish work harder than the rest of us?

Yes they do work harder. Amish live a simpler life (I am meaning no technology and our moder conviences) but just reading Lovina's posts about how a Sat. went, up at 6:30 and ready for bed at 9. But all that is accomplished during the day, just wow's me, 3 pies is one day, one would be it for me. I wish I could have a day of accomplishment like that. I often wonder what it would be like to live a life of theirs for a week. Probably could not make it! Yes they do work harder!

I actaully see this differently. I think we work harder at avoiding work and therefore it appears that we are not working as hard. Meanwhile they work hard and get results. And they don't work so hard that they don't get the fulfillment of life and happiness. Meanwhile some of us who work so hard that they become miserable.

I know they work a LOT harder than I do! Everytime I visit my favorite Amish community in Ohio, I vow that I will return home and get myself in gear! There yards are amazingly beautiful. And now I will get off this computer and fix my husband a nice home cooked meal, this post has made me feel guilty. :)

They do if they have off farm jobs because most of the farm work is waiting for them when they get home.  I would even say that those who only farm still work harder than 'regular' folks.  Anyone who has ever piled hay in 90+ weather would agree.  Not to mention laundry without washing machines.
