ELIZABETH'S HOUSEHOLD HINTS & HOME REMEDIES

Dear Readers:

Despite holding on to a largely 17th century lifestyle, the Amish have always been innovators. The Amish contributed to colonial culture by inventing the Conestoga Wagon, which enabled larger groups of settlers and supplies to reach the West. Amish organic farming techniques were brought from Germany to the United States where they were mimicked by many. Amish farmers turned the Lancaster County area of Pennsylvania into early America's "bread-basket." They remain efficient farmers to this day. This will be a place for Amish innovation to be shared. Elizabeth's own household hints and home-remedies will be offered here. Readers are also invited to share their own suggestions and hints. They'll be forwarded to Elizabeth. Hopefully she'll try some of them and we'll respond with the results.
