Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

Peanut butter pie is one of those confections that the Amish have adopted, and it's not surprising.  The pie is easy, decadent, and a crowd-pleaser, all of which Amish cooks like.  I love to sample peanut butter pie at the various venues I visit. One of my favorite kinds was tasted at Yoder's restaurant in Pinecraft.  There are several variations of the recipe. I will share Lovina's.  To get the same effect that her pie has, just buy a chocolate pie crust pre-made from the store to use in this recipe.

PEANUT BUTTER PIE

1 chocolate pie crust
3/4 cups peanut butter
1 can Eagle Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/4 tsp. lemon juice
1 (8 oz) Cool Whip
chocolate syrup

Mix the peanut butter, milk, and lemon juice together. Pour into the chocolate crust.

Add the desired amount of chocolate syrup  into the Cool Whip, until you achieve the color and flavor you want. Then spread the chocolate-y stuff onto the Peanut Butter mixture and refrigerate.  For an event more chocolately taste, sprinkle some chocolate chips on top!

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

This sounds good!  I have been craving lemon meringue pie since yesterday, so I am getting ready to make one.  I made a homemade chicken pot pie for supper last night.  I think a diet of pies is the way to go  ;-)

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

And let's not forget to include whoopie pies!  Wink

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

my husband would be in agreement of the pies. But anything with feathers no. I have to eat my feather friends( turkey chicken ,eggs, pheasant ,quail )with other family members at their home. He will not allow it to be served at ours.

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

Wow, that must make meal-planning a bit difficult!  Does he not like the taste or does he have a moral objection?  Can you use eggs in cooking (like cakes, cookies, etc.)?

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

On the eggs if it is hidden it is ok like cakes ,pies cookies . But deviled eggs , boiled eggs that you add to potato salad, tuna salad, ham salad no. Yes! it does make me really think about what I am having meal wise . no moral objection . I asked his mom what's up with this. She said  he has alway .She had fixed feather friends and her and hubby's brother had no problem . He just didn't eat it. When we got married that is when the rules of what to fix and not fix came in force. My kids and I both like our feather friends and they serve it at their house. They just make sure hubby is served something else when we eat with them..

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

sounds like hubby is just a little bit spoiled to me, maybe by his parents.  in our house, you eat what is placed in front of you or guess what....YOU DON'T EAT!!  it's just as simple as that, pal.

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

That's what I was thinkin'..........

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

My mother had no patience for picky eaters, and her motto was:  "You have a choice.  You can eat it ... or you can wear it!"  She said it in jest, but we pretty much knew not to push her on it..

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

I like the recipe the way it's written, that's the way my recipe's are written.  Chocolate-y stuff, that's awesome, Kind of like a do-hickey or thing-a-ma-jig!

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

hmmmmmmmmmmmm peanut butter, hmmmmmmmmmmmm chocolate......need i say any more????Laughing

Re: Homemade Peanut Butter Pie

My pie is in the freezer, chilling, I'll take it out in a bit- the whip topping got to liquiddy when I was making it - so it's not pretty but I'm sure it's going to be tastey! I got all the ingredients on sale (except the PB had that already) so it wasn't that pricey to make!
