The Amish Cook from Oasis Newsfeatures

Yuck!

Okay, I shall forgo the usual Amish-themed news today and focus on something that is....um..well, I think it's just plain creepy.  The Holiday Inn is testing the concept of using "human bed warmers" to warm your bed before you sleep in it.  Bleech.  No thanks.  Click here to read about it.  First of all, maybe I am in the minority here, but I LIKE the feel of clean, cold, crisp sheets.  I don't want to get into my bed and feel it all toasty warm. I like to get into a cold bed and then feel snug as MY body heat (or the wife's) gets trapped in the sheets and warms it up.  But someone else's???  That's just so bizarre.  Who the heck thought this was a good idea??? I don't care if the person wraps themself head to toe in tin foil first, it's still creepy.  Hotel beds make me squeamish enough as is, without having to worry about a person having been in the sheets before me...I used to stay at Holiday Inns all the time, but then I just thought they got too pricey for what you get and their properties are too inconsistent. Some are great, others are just dingy.  So I don't stay there much anymore, and this pretty much confirms that wise decision......am I off base or does anyone else think this is a bit weird??

Re: Yuck!

I agree with Farmhouse Barb!  grossMoney mouth

Re: Yuck!

They better just keep it in England. There is no way I would want this. They must not have a board of health or anything like that.  I can't see the USA accepting this.

Re: Yuck!

As I understand it, it's being tried in England.

I can't imagine anyone except a very disturbed person actually *liking* this.  Electric blankets, hot water bottles, footie socks... all MUCH better alternatives!

Re: Yuck!

Yuck is correct!

Re: Yuck!

I agree yuck! I would like an electric blanket though. I guess my parents almost got us one for Christmas, then didn't.  My feet are cold every night, I can't fall asleep until they are warm.

We'll stick with our trailer.

Re: Yuck!

What are the chances that the sheets would still be warm by the time you get in them anyway?  You'd have to enter your room as soon as the human bed warmer left and then get RIGHT in bed.  Who does that?  But you're right, Kevin...this multiplies the creep factor of hotel beds by 100!

Re: Yuck!

That is just not right!  I like the coolness at first too.

There was a story this morning on Good Morning America about how clean your hotel is (isn't).  Showed things on the linens, walls, rugs, etc. that made my Tent look good!

Re: Yuck!

I like cool sheets in the summer, and warm ones in the winter, but I don't want some "stranger" warming my sheets! I'll just use my electric blanket, thank you!

Re: Yuck!

That is just plain gross!!!!Tongue out

Re: Yuck!

I agree completely, Kevin!!  Too weird - and creepy!!  Like you, I enjoy getting into bed and feeling the cool, crisp sheets and letting body heat warm it up...  My husband doesn't share that preference completely but has come to accept it.  :)  I'd much rather see Holiday Inn provide an electric blanket if need be!  Human bed warmers - no way!!!

Re: Yuck!

Glad I am not the only one that thinks that way, Nancy!Smile

Re: Yuck!

the ONLY thing that i want to warm MY sheets is MY HUSBAND. this is just obscene to think that they would do something like this.
