Happy Earth Day!

At least no one has to send a dozen $5 Hallmark cards to anyone for this holiday...

Re: Happy Earth Day!

I have something you can spend that $5 (and more) on...Smile  Check out the movie Earth starting tomorrow.  We got to preview it last year, very powerful and illustrative of climate changes.  The best part from my perspective however, was the amazing pictures of seasons changing and the underwater shots of the elephants swimming.

A BBC, Discovery, Disney (and I think others) collaboration.  One Chicago reviewer said, ""Beautiful enough to forgive Disney for Hannah Montana: The Movie."  Good trailer available on various internet sites including Yahoo movies, Audubon.org, and Disneynature.com. Some group is paying to plant a tree for every viewing of the movie this week - which of course is an advertising gimmick, but at least a worthwhile one.

We still have curb side recycling - I remember reading an article online about the disappearance of recycling centers (it may have been posted here); particularly back in the midwest.  It was because it was more expensive to run the center than the amount the businesses could make by selling the materials to be recycled.  Sort of sad, I think.  Washington's motto after all is "Keep Washington Green"!

Re: Happy Earth Day!

PS - We in this house don't celebrate such days and we certainly don't watch the propaganda films which are out there.

We do however, give praise to God, everyday for whatever type of weather day He provides for us, we give thanks for the budding trees and blooming flowers, and for the little birds and creatures He has placed... We teach the children to be good stewards of the earth, as the Bible teaches.

Bravo !!!!!!!  amen!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Happy Earth Day!

When I was out yesterday walking, trying to get in better health .I saw an interesting thing. A grandma and her two grandchildren we out cleaning the trash out of the fence of the school. I then saw them cleaning  the local park. Made me think what a beautiful example she was teaching her grandchildren. Made me go home and go around my block and do the same. It is a shame a couple of years ago our town tried recycle newpapers. Alot of us used it but because some used it as a regular trash bin it was discontinued. Happy Earth DaY Everyone!!!

Re: Happy Earth Day!

Most of the recycling stations around here are all gone now too. Good idea that was done to help the local communities but  they eventually turned into giant trash heaps as people left cars/trucks, appliances, bags of trash, etc...

Only takes a few to ruin something for all...

Re: Happy Earth Day!

Good thought,Tom!! Give the advertisers a chance, tho'..they just haven't thought of it yet!!!!
