Neat Amish Store in Ohio

There are some things that Wal-Mart just can't compete with and, in this case, it's a creative, entrepreneurial Amish couple who have opened up a thriving Big Lots-style store in the middle of nowhere.  This article illustrates how inventive the Amish can be and how they're often able to scratch out a living where no one else could.  I'd love to head up that way to check it out sometime, if I do, I'll report on the place. In the meantime, read about it here.

A new book is out about the Amish and the media.  The book points out that even though the Amish attempt to avoid the media, they remain the subject of countless books, magazine, articles, and TV features.  What about newspaper columns?  Hmmmm, don't recall myself or Lovina being interview for this book!

Lastly....all I can say is UGH.  It seems like last week I was featuring an article about the Mennonite relief sale in Illinois.  Um, no...that was LAST YEAR.  Time goes too fast!  But here we go again. Read here about next weekend's central Illinois Mennonite relief sale.

We have a store like that in North Judson ,Indiana. It is called Bailey's. I think it is Conservitive Mennonite owned. THere are men and women dressed in conservitive clothing. This store started out being a cabinet shop. It has been in three buildings. The last one is a couple of acres big. Just plan a couple of hours there.

Sounds like a store I would really like to go to!  My favorite leisure activity is to stroll through a store... ANY store... and search out clearance items.  Just yesterday I found new curtains for my kitchen for $1 a pair Laughing.  I hope you head up that way once it melts and report back on the bargains!
