Baby Steven; Cooking Show

For regular column readers, the newest Amish Cook column will be posted early....probably over the weekend sometime.  A preview:  Baby Steven, Lovina's nephew, is now scheduled for heart surgery on March 3.  So keep the little guy in your prayers.  I'll update readers as I know more.

Meanwhile, I'm kind of excited about a new feature on this site.  We'll be unveiling a monthly "cooking show" (if it's well-received, it'll be monthly, if it's a dud with readers, then this will be the first and last) on this site.  I will team up with Jessica Alcorn to prepare several of the most recent recipes from Lovina's column.  Often readers have questions about the recipes: how to prepare them, how they look, their cultural significance.....this 10 to 15 minute webcast will be your chance to experience the process and see the results.  The show will be free.  Of course, Lovina will not participate in this broadcast.  Jessica was a recipe editor on the first cookbook that Elizabeth and I wrote together (Recipes & Recollections), so she knows the Amish-style of cooking in and out.  Jessica and I did several "Amish Cook cooking shows" in Muncie, Indiana a few years back and they were pretty well-received.  Jessica does most of the cooking part, while I provide the cultural background the recipes.  I hope you tune in.  This should be up the week of March 3.   Um...does anyone have any creative suggestions for the show's title?

Re: Baby Steven; Cooking Show

I second that, "Plainly Delicious" with Kevin and Jessica! Great name for the show!

Can't wait to see the show. I have been reading all the books and still have not made anything. Maybe this will get me going! Smile

"Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it, you can never get it back."

Wow!  This is the most exciting thing!  A marriage of two things I love..."The Amish Cook" and Food Network!  LOL    I cannot wait to see it.  Is there a way I can download this stuff to my iPod?

You could call it "Plainly Delicious" with Kevin and Jessica.... simple, with a double entendre twist.
