Amish Country Restaurants.....

Happy Saturday to everyone! It's always neat to see all the new people registering on this site each day from all over the place.  We have thousands of registered users, many more "lurkers" who don't register, and only a tiny fraction of you post on this site.  But that's OK, I appreciate all of you, the registereds, the lurkers, and the posters!  Your visits to this site makes this site worthwhile.  One of our regular site vistors sent me a link to Ohio's "Amish country" restaurants.    Of all the ones on the list I've only been to Der Dutchman.  I was traveling with Elizabeth Coblentz (Lovina's Mom) years ago and I thought to give her a "taste of home" I'd take her there.  We were near Mansfield, Ohio at the time so we decided to drop in for lunch.  I don't think she was overly impressed, though, with the food. (SIGH, there goes a potential site advertiser, I suppose).  Has anyone been to any of the restaurants on the list?  I'd love to compile a list of Amish/PA Dutch restaurants and reviews on this site.  Nothing worse than visiting a restaurant that doesn't deliver, and there's nothing better than "peer reviews".  So take a look at the list and let us know if you've been to any of the places.  I'll work on pulling all the info into one spot.

Meanwhile, thanks to Tom for posting his photos from a recent trip to the LaGrange area of Indiana.  Take a look.  Classic northern Indiana Amish country scenery, and a peek at a graduation ceremony of sorts?  I'm always a little amused when I travel through the town of Howe, Indiana that there is a "military school" there - right in the heart of pacifist Amish country.  Although it doesn't look like Tom is attending a military school graduation.

Thanks for the photos! I love the white houses, they look to clean and simple. I live out West so I don't get to see any Plain communities or visit any restaurants. Thanks for the pictures Tom.

LOL photos

No, it certainly isn't the militray my daughter was graduating from, but CMU last year and then the bike ones were from me racing in a couple different Icemans (27 mile mountain bike race)in Traverse City during November.... And a picture of my '72' Nova which I really miss...

Anyways you can get to see what I look like....
