Chili

Here in the North the Cold is setting in so heres a great chili recipe

Tom's simple red-brown chili:

1-1/2 to 2lbs Ground Beef

1 - big can of Brooks Chili beans mix 39oz

1 - 15oz can of tomato sauce

3 - Tablespoons of chili powder

1 - 16oz can of refried beans

Brown ground beef in large skillet, drain most of grease but not all.

Add above ingredients one at a time, with refried beans going in last.

Simmer uncovered -1/2 hr to 3/4 hr - stirring occasionally

And for those who like it hot you can sprinkle red pepper on top of each indivdual bowl....

Newport, Arkansas

Well, this is a question only I probably know the answer to:).  Yes, good memory, The Newport Daily Independent did once run The Amish Cook.  For reasons that I can't remember, they discontinued it....The only Arkansas paper that runs the column now is the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway.....How about calling the Independent and asking them to bring the column back?

My name is Kevin, I'm the editor of the column.  If the column gets into a newspaper, it has to go through me first:), so I was able to answer your question about the Newport Independent!
