The Power of Advertising

LuvMaerz's picture

My almost 4-year old daughter came to me yesterday and said "I want to go to the Cayman Islands"... now where did THAT come from??  Well, there are commercials running on Nick Jr. for Cayman Island vacations featuring the cartoon character, Diego (Dora's cousin).

Remember when commercials only targeted kids for breakfast cereal, checkout-lane candy, and Barbies/Hotwheels?  Now, they are resorting to getting kids to nag their parents for high ticket tropical vacations!

(Hmmm... you know, a tropical vacation doesn't sound too bad right about now Wink)

Re: The Power of Advertising

My kids are always singing the 1-800-MY-LEMON jingle. I actually checked out the website at and thought it was very good. The blog at was drop dead funny with lots of humor.

Re: The Power of Advertising

Hmmmm, this seems like a clever attempt to push a product in a comment, and I usually remove such posts, what do you all think?

Re: The Power of Advertising

One of the sites did have a link to a You tube video of the jingle so it did pertain to the topic, though I've never heard of it before and didn't find it that 'catchy' of a jingle.

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift... that's why they call it the present."

Absolutely!  People will stop at nothing to get free publicity!  Yell

Our windshield  got hit by a flying rock, from a semi-truck with an uncovered load on our trip, my children said, looks like we need Safelite! We don't watch TV, they heard the add on the Christian radio station we listen to in the car!  Safelite did indeed come and fix our windshield ding!

We have a local home loan company with a catchy jingle in their radio ad that my children will randomly sing!

Haha!  My daughter (5 1/2) keeps telling us how she wants to go on the Nick Jr. Cruise vor vacation next year.  Oh...and how much I NEED the Buxton Organizer...  Wink

Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

LOL  My husband tells me I need the Buxton organizer, too.  That thing is a morph of an old lady purse and a fannie pack!

My boys go around singing the 1-800-MYLEMON song.  It's really quite amusingLaughing
