Wisconsin Amish Weather the Recession....

Wisconsin's largest newspaper, the Journal Sentinel, decided to take a look at how the state's Amish are dealing with the tough economy.  Some Amish communities, like the ones in central Wisconsin, are relatively insulated from our economic troubles.  Other areas, like the Amish of northern Indiana, have been clobbered by the downturn.  Traditionally, the Amish have strived for self-sufficiency, either through farming or having their own business.   In some settlements, however, the Amish began taking jobs in factories.  These Amish have been hardest hit by the recession.  Click here to read about how Wisconsin's Amish are faring.
