Re: Amish cook in Montreal

The amish family ( Matthew Hunt, his wife and his 5 children) from north Dakota moved to Saint-Raphael de Bellechasse....I know the family asked to obtain the refugee status in order to live here...I don't know if they are still here....And for the old order mennonites I will try to find out if they still live or not in quebec...

Re: Amish cook in Montreal

Jamy, fascinating for several reasons:

1) Hunt is a very unusual Amish name

2) I didn't think any Amish lived in North Dakota...if they do, it's a very small settlement....

I'm not doubting your information, I would just love to know more...are you aware of any news articles published in Quebec papers about the Hunts? If so, I would love to read more!

Hey, cool! I know there are Amish in Canada. The book is excellent, and should be enjoyed globaly!!!!

Re: Amish cook in Montreal

Not in Quebec....but in Ontario....I know that there are at least 2 families that came in Quebec for living after september 11th...One of them left not too long after and I don't know about  the other one...

Re: Amish cook in Montreal

Very interesting, Jamy, do you know where in Quebec the two families moved?  There was - and maybe still is? - a community of Old Order Mennonites in Quebec.  They threatened to leave after the province instituted some new regulations on parochial schools, but not sure how it all worked out......
