Whiteville, Tennessee Beachy Amish Mennonite Settlement

AmishCookTV subscribers should have received a mini-documentary of my visit to the Whiteville, Tennessee Beachy Amish Mennonite Settlement.  This is our discussion thread for that.  What did you think of the tour?  Too bad the cotton, the bright white fields of cotton, didn't show up all that well in the video!

Re: Whiteville, Tennessee Beachy Amish Mennonite Settlement

Where is the original article write up and video about this community. I want to visit.

Great Video!  I was going to ask if they were like Hostess Fruit Pies...they look delicious.  He said they had 4-5 people working, all family?

Had never heard of Schnucks until today!

Re: Whiteville, Tennessee Beachy Amish Mennonite Settlement

I like Schnuck's, they are sort of a nice localish/regionalist grocery store chain, which is a rarity in our Wal-Mart world.  There are no Schnuck's around here, but I've been in them when I travel.   And, oooh, I am envious that he'll be able to buy some of those fry pies, they are awesome!  They taste like one of those Hostess Fruit pies but 10 X better...the chocolate pie and the strawberry pie were two of my favorite flavors!

Re: Whiteville, Tennessee Beachy Amish Mennonite Settlement

Ohhh, chocolate and strawberry fry pies sound delicious! I didn't receive your email link (as usual, lately) but thanks for this posting. I was able to use an old link and could view the video from there. I guess as long as you keep posting it on the site, I am good to go! Great video -- makes me long to take a ride up to the Country Variety store in Bellefontaine!

Kevin - How on earth have you heard of Schnucks??  They're a major grocery chain in St. Louis, some stores in TN and a few in other states, but most people haven't heard of them if they're not from around here.  My husband works for them and I can't wait to show him that video.  We live in St. Louis and he has to travel to the Memphis stores pretty frequently (including next week) so guess what I've put on his list for down there???  Yep, the fry pie (fried pie?).  Very neat video!!
