What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sammorar/3201564345/

My 5-year-old niece's birthday was over the weekend and I needed some gift ideas for her.  So I asked my brother for suggestions.  He told me that she really wanted a "Snuggie."  Never heard of one of these.  Of course so many times when you hear of something for the first time then you start hearing the term constantly.  Not hours after I heard the word "Snuggie" for the first time in my brother's email, the anchor on my local news was discussing them.  She even modeled one on the air.  Later in the evening, Rachel and I were at a local Walgreens and saw empty Snuggie shelves, only a couple were left.  I didn't see a "kids snuggie", so I passed on buying one for my niece. Okay, I understand they are a "blanket with sleeves."    But what are they for?  Are you supposed to wear it in place of a robe?  I feel like I must not be as in touch with pop culture as I need to be if I just heard of these....does anyone have a Snuggie?  If so, can you explain what all the fuss is about???

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

to the questions asked here, the snuggie is open at the bottom, and the back overlaps and completely closes up so you are not sitting there with a cold back either. maybe not everyone will enjoy it, but i love mine.......

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

same here, but I've gotten to where I wear it 'backwards' with the opening in the front.

Ha, that'll change in about 20 years, Kevin! Just a word of warning, lol ~Diann

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

I have seen them also. I was wondering if anyone could tell me they are open on the bottom? I like the heat low while, while my husband likes it much warmer. I might just pick one up for him.. Thanks..

Wow, a "gender role reversal", Rachel likes the house oven-hot, while I like it cooler

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift... that's why they call it the present."

I WANT ONE!!  I wanted it the moment I saw it on tv.  And of course, when you buy one for 19.95, you get a second one FREE!  I am waiting until they get to the store so I can bypass the s/h.

What I like about them is that they are long enough to cover your feet, too.  When I am lying on the couch, I hate for my feet to stick out and get cold.  I have horrible circulation, and my feet turn purple :P

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

Luv,

BK said they have them at Walgreen's.  Guess they don't have the buy one/get one there though.Undecided

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

Ah but what you pay in s/h it is like getting one freeWink

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

But why not just put on a warm robe over your clothes?  At least that way your back would be covered too.  It's amazing what humans can convince themselves that they "need".

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

i just love my snuggie, i got one for christmas, and as a matter of fact i am wearing it right now, our computer is in the coldest room in the house and after the day is over and everyone else is asleep i get in my computer time, i love nothing better than to put that on and take a hot cup of tea and get on my puter and after i check my email i am off to this website to see what everyone has been up to.

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

I think we would like one, we have so-so many throw blankets that we just thought this one to be a wonderful money making marketing ployWink.

I thought I would share my new enchilada casserole recipe I made up tonight.  First, back near t-day we received a free turkey from our Kroger store... we didn't need it then, so he's been in the freezer, he got roasted on Saturday.  Yesterday, we were at friends and he was tacos, today, enchilada casserole.. The thing is I actually know how I made this one!  So here is my recipe for

Lazy Enchiladas:

1 1/2 - 2 C cooked chopped meat (roasted turkey today)

1- 20 oz can green enchilada sauce

3/4 C small cubed Velveeta

5 - 10" flour tortillas cut into 1"x2" pieces

1/2 C shredded cheese for top

Assemble early in day. In a bowl stir meat, sauce and Velveeta cubes.  Toss in tortilla pieces, mix well.  Place in 8x8 glass/pottery baking dish*, refrigerate. Place casserole in cold oven set to 350.  Bake for 40 minutes, remove sprinkle shredded cheese place back in oven until cheese is bubbly.  Remove 10 minutes before serving.
*mine is a Longaberger of course.  For 9x13, doulble the recipe, bake longer.

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

Ok confession time, I have oneEmbarassed When Scott was home over the holidays, my son David was talking about how at the Walgreens he works at couldn't keep them in stock  and as soon as they come in they are sold out.  He told Scott that there were a few left so Scott went out and bought not only himself one but me one too.  The one thing we were teasing each other about doing was 'velcroing' the 'opening' or putting an extra long zipper on it.  My other sons made fun of the fact that I have one but I have caught each one using it on the couch.  It's not a very heavy blanket, but what they do (and me too) is put it on, then another blanket on top of that up to their/my chest.  That what their/my arms are free to use the remote.  They also tease me about being a wizard when I wear it backwards. Uhm maybe I'll blog about it next time I can't think of anything else to blog about......

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

I've also seen the Snuggie's on QVC. They were selling like hot cakes just before Christmas. Guess everyone was buying them as presents. ~Diann

Re: What The Heck Is A Snuggie??

Yes they are a blanket with sleeves. They are used to keep warm on a couch or on the floor, Kids love then as well as adults. They are shown on TV in an infomertial usually 19.95
