The Amish Cook from Oasis Newsfeatures

Live at 9

Yesterday, I visited "Live at 9" on WREG in Memphis to talk about our baking book and to make a buttermilk pie.  Other than forgetting to add buttermilk to the buttermilk pie, I thought the segment went well.Smile (that'd be kind of like forgetting to add apples to an apple pie, kind of an important ingredient...oh well, viewers got the gist).  The above photo is not of me being interviewed, it's my view from off the set of hosts Alex Coleman and Mary Beth Conerly chatting with a guest.  The show is a morning news/interview type show focusing in Memphis and filmed in the "Peabody Place" atrium, a downtown shopping mall.

After leaving, Rachel and I headed to more rural locales.  We were able to spend much of the afternoon with the Beachy Amish Mennonites near Whiteville, Tennessee.  We had a wonderful time, met some great people and saw and learned some interesting things that I am very excited to share with everyone.  So, once I am back on Friday and have a chance to catch my breath, I will be posting some neat things and AmishCookTV subscribers will get some cool videos.   Later today it is on to Chicago where I'll do a baking segment on the WGN noon news tomorrow.  So, stay tuned!

Re: Live at 9

Kevin, I have my VCR all set to tape your segement in Chicago tomorrow. I'm excited that I can get that channel on cable! I'm treating my oldest sister to lunch for her birthday tomorrow, thus the reason for the taping, but I will "see" you as soon as I'm able! Good luck - er, break a leg, oh heck, you know what I mean!  Wink

Re: Live at 9

Diann, I actually got to watch this one!! We do get WGN here on cable. I thought Kevin did an excellent job(even if the sugar stuck in the bowl..Laughing!). I would be a nervous wreck to try to do so much in such a small amount of time..in front of a camera to boot!!! Good job,Kevin!! I enjoyed it!

Re: Live at 9

Barb, glad you got to see it! I did, too! I laughed about the sugar, and also the anchor forming the pie crust into a ball, when it was actually supposed to be patted out in the pan, thus the name, Pat-A-Pan pie crust! Yeah, I thought Kevin kept his cool and did a great job -- he even remembered to add the buttermilk this time!  Wink

Re: Live at 9

Thanks, at least I'll remember to add the buttermilk this time!Smile

Re: Live at 9

Too bad you couldn't done Chicago when you were up in Indiana- Your all over the place!  That would wear on me, I'm orderly, like when I plan errands, I plan the route in a big circle.  Same with our big trip, we have a map with the route highlighted it's a big figure 8 (we had to go through Iowa twice, west to east, then south to north) I tried so hard so that we would see other states but the Iowa thing was unavoidable.  Hope your having fun though.  Driving downtown Chicago is crazy, the people weren't very friendly driver wise.

Busy, busy, busy!!!!! Continued fun to you and Rachel!Smile
