A Little TLC?

kate

CAPTION: TLC's hit show, Jon & Kate Plus Eight

SIGH....Um...guilty pleasure anyone?  My Rachel starts watching TV shows, TV shows that I would NEVER watch on my own accord.  Usually it begins like this:  She'll start watching a show that I have no interest in.  But, in an effort to spend some time together, I'll sit on the sofa next to her and surf the `net, read the paper, have a beer...whatever....then, through the force of repetition, after seeing these shows over and over I'll find my attention gradually turning to what she is watching....and sooner or later, it may take weeks or months, but I'll find myself just as interested in what Rachel is watching as she is.

One of Rachel's Monday night indulgences is to watch a couple of shows on TLC (sheesh, remember when it was THE LEARNING CHANNEL???).   Monday night on TLC is populated by Jon & Kate Plus Eight and Little People, Big World.  So, the point of this post?  I just want to find out if ANYONE ELSE watches these shows?  I kinda find myself liking both programs.    Little People, Big World seems the most unscripted.  One can't help but be captivated by the cute kids on J & K, and I think Lovina would find the show amazing. Lovina has eight children, but they were staggered over 10 years.  I think Lovina would find her own life much more relaxing after watching a couple of episodes of J & K.

Re: A Little TLC?

GOD BLESS YOU How about Trading Spaces since Paige is back???

I agree that Kate could be a little more "polite" to Jon.  We enjoy a lot on TLC. Little People also.

Husband used to like the show with Chuck Foose that kidnapped a fvorite vehicle that was probably NEVER going to be completed. I think he was daydreaming that someone would kidnap his Model T Touring car and work some magic on it.  Does anyone know what happened to that show?  it seemed to be enormously popular and Chuck Foose does phenomenal work.

Re: A Little TLC?

My son does the same thing when it comes to his Mustang!!!!  He's even asked me to sumit his name and he would 'act' surprise when the time comes.  Problem is most of those shows tape where we aren't.

Re: A Little TLC?

I've seen Jon & Kate plus 8 a few times but don't care for it. Kate comes off very bossy and disrespectul towards her husband. I get embarrassed for him when I watched the show. I can totally understand how hectic and hard it must be to have children all the same age, but still, I feel she degrades her husband and that's why I no longer care to watch the show.  On the other hand, anything that has to do with Jimbob & Michelle Duggar I watch. They are very loving and respectful to one another and the children seem like really nice people.   Just my opinion.

I love the Duggars!!  I love the show about them building their new, huge house, complete with commercial grade kitchen and laundry.  Wow.. I can't imagine having that many kids.  But I figure with them, it is probably like Lovina's family, with the older kids helping out so much with chores and helping with the younger kids.  I don't think they have any plans to stop having kids, either.  They are definitely a one-in-a-million couple!

Re: A Little TLC?

These are two shows we sit down as a family an watch.  My two boys, ages 4 & 6, love Little People, Big World.  Unfortunately, they have to be in bed at 8:30pm, so they miss the second episode.  However, they repeat them at 7:00 and 7:30pm the following Monday night.

And Jon & Kate is a great show.  Just like hartman's post, I too live not too far from them.  Which is pretty cool.  I just saw an advertisement in the paper today that they are going to be at a church in my area at the end of the month.

Re: A Little TLC?

I really enjoy J & K Plus Eight.  They're from Lancaster, which is right around the corner from me.  I like seeing the local attractions when I watch the show.

Re: A Little TLC?

I love these . I don't think I would be as calm as Kate by days end  but she makes being a mom so loving and fun.  My husband  and I both really enjoy little people big world.

tell the Eikers I hope all goes well with Lovina's eye

I used to watch "Baby Story" all the time back when I thought I wanted to be a midwife.  When I am up late at night with nothing else on, I like to turn to TLC or Discovery Health and see what is on.  I watched the documentary they did on J&K BEFORE the series, and I also saw Kate get a tummy tuck procedure on another show.  I like Little People because it is interesting to see how they cope and adapt with everyday life, especially having 3 normal sized kids.

I will admit that my guilty entertainment (??) is watching those shows about morbidly obese people.  With names like "Half Ton Man" or "Eating Myself to Death", you just want to see what they look like/how they live.  Those shows can be a real wake-up call.

Re: A Little TLC?

We don't get that channel, that sounds like a show I would like. Maybe a little to close to my life!!  When our youngest was born we had 4 under 4 (yes there is a set of twins)! Those days were crazy. The cool part about our children is that they are very close to each other, we don't have the sibling issues a lot of families have, I think that since they are close in age it helps (as close as 20 minutes even!!!)  We would have no cable TV at all, except they make you have it for cable internet.

Re: A Little TLC?

Yes, I am laying on the couch, lap-top on my lap, watching TLC.  I love both shows metion along with LA Ink and Miami Ink.  The thing about the other two is I HATE tattoos but enjoy the shows, wierd huh?
