Happy Anniversary to Us!

I posted this over on Facebook and I thought I would here also. The Amish Cook celebrates its 19th anniversary today. It was today - 19 years ago on a gorgeous summer day- when I was, in fact, 19-years-old - that I first met Elizabeth Coblentz (Lovina's mom) and then launched The Amish Cook column. If anyone would have told me then that I would STILL be doing this today, I would've had their head examined (and maybe mine). It just seems like so long ago, like it was another life, another person.  I just never dreamt, when I turned into Elizabeth's driveway for the very first time, that my life would change so much.  I guess I can safely say that turn into that driveway was the single most significant event of my life.  And I'm still trying to sort out what it all means.  But we're here, 19 years later.  Wow.  Does anyone have any favorite Amish Cook column memories they'd like to share on this special day?

Re: Happy Anniversary to Us!

I am so thankful that I am still reading the column after all these years.  Congrats on this anniversary! I will never forget when I got to work and saw the front page of the paper announcing Elizabeth's death.  I was in a terrieble sadness for days.  I am so greatful that Lovina kept the writings going.  Here's to another 19!

Happy Anniveraary.  I've been reading your column from he start.  I don't have any that stand out as I enjoy them all.  I remember when Elizabeth died and what a heartbreaking shock that was.

I look forwart to each and every Monday to read the column as the Indy Star stopped running it several years ago.

Thank you all.....LadyHawk

Happy Anniversary Kevin! I have been reading the column for a long time, since back in the day when Elizabeth was penning it. I guess one of my favorite memories was when they built Lovina's new house. How exciting that must be to watch your brand new house being built!

Happy Anniversary!!! I only found you about 2 years ago...and since have purchased all of your great books and the video. I have read many, many of the past columns, and must say that it would be hard to choose one. I guess(and I'm not sure why)the one that touched me the most was the one Elizabeth wrote after losing Ben. She always wrote from her heart,I guess. Lovina does the same..only differently.Generation gap, maybe? Well anyways, here's to 19 more!!!! (+,I hope!).Smile
