Dominos?

I love pizza - any pizza.  Generally, there is no such thing - in my opinion - as a bad pizza, even cheap $5 Little Caesar's is passable pizza.  If I were stranded on a desert island with only one food, I'd probably pick pizza.  I generally steer clear of Domino's and Pizza Hut (Grease-a Hut).  Dominos's just doesn't do it for me, but I was willing to give their "new formulation" a chance this past weekend.  I guess a lot of people seem to be giving the "new pizza" good reviews.  But, I don't know, I found myself underwhelmed.  I mean, it was okay...but just that - okay.  Has anyone else tried Domino's since they have reformulated their recipe?  If so, what did you think?

Re: Dominos?

To farmhouseBarb...

My husband's family all lived in Portville, Richburg and Bolivar.  From the sounds of your last post, I'm guessing you live around there?  It's beautiful country.  His grandparents farm was half in PA and half in NY.

Re: Dominos?

Hey cool! I am about 12 miles from Portville, and my mom was born and raised in Richburg!!! Small world, isn't it? When my mom was a kid,Richburg had their own school district. Now Bolivar and Richburg are combined. There are a bunch of little towns that are on the NY/PA border. Where are you from now?

Re: Dominos?

Well,Mike's family left Richburg back in 1969 to Sodus NY.  I'm from farm town Groveland NY--you may haveheard of Dansville or Geneseo?  Anyway, we met and married in Rochester, moved to Louisiana, then moved to South Carolina.  I want to go back to NY so bad, but he says he'll never shovel snow again. Hmm..I guess we kind of strayed from the pizza discussion! LOL

Re: Dominos?

Yeah, the "new" Domino's is rather ho-hum.  It is fine, but nothing to write home about.  I used to work at Pizza Hut, and I know how much grease the pan pizza sits in and absorbs as it cooks in that heavy black pan!  Makes my stomach hurt just to think about it... anymore, I prefer a light, crispy thin crust.  I always liked the taste of Papa John's sauce, but DH prefers P.H. or Papa Murphys, so that is what we always got.  At least I learned the tricks of the trade, so I make a pretty decent homemade pizza myself ;-)

Re: Dominos?

Good to hear from LuvM again!Smile

Re: Dominos?

I don't care for Dominos, Pizza Hut or Little Caeser's.  I LOVE Pat's Pizza.  It's a local chain that I grew up with in NJ and they've since added more stores.  We now have one here in Oxford, PA and we order from there most Fridays.  I don't like the Pat's chains in Maryland, because the crust just isn't right.  I think there is something with the sea level there that makes their breads and such not very tastey.  Good pizza is all in the CRUST!!!

Re: Dominos?

I seem to be in the minority here, but I prefer Domino's & we don't have one here anymore.  We have Pizza Hut (too greasy for me), Papa John"s (still greasy, but better - so usually get theirs when I get pizza) or Papa Murphy's & I think Papa Murphy's just has an off taste to the sauce.  We also have a Ken's, but again too greasy.

Re: Dominos?

I'll try the new dominos when I get a coupon for it.  The local pizza places here in Fayetteville are terrible.  This is why we now order from Pizza Hut.  In Omaha Johnny Sortino was #1 and Benes Pizza #2.. In Hammond,Indiana it was Key Pizza.  Husband prefered State Line Pizza.

Re: Dominos?

Ewww no Domino's for me. Don't like it. Much rather have Fat Boys Pizza. It's awesome and then Cassano's is next in line for me. I don't care for Pizza Hut either but like Papa John's and Donato's.  The other local places in our area are pretty good too. (Vicario's, Buckeye Pizza and Ron's Pizza)

Re: Dominos?

The food at the Cassano's in Russell's Point is the best! Also tried Padrone's up there (Indain Lake region) and it was good too. We like Marion's in the Dayton area. (I know you don't like it Kevin, but your wife does! Tongue out) I grew up eating Marion's pizza, and Cassano's. Still my two favorites after more than 40 years!

Re: Dominos?

I've not tried Padrone's.  We finally tried La Pizzaria just a few weeks ago.  We're awful....lived in the Indian Lake area for 13 years and have barely tried any of the food up there. LOL.  I like the lake's Cassano's but my favorite is the one in Sidney. The food just tastes better there...but that could be just because I grew up eating at the Sidney one. LOL

Re: Dominos?

My hubby likes to eat at La Pizzaria. Their pizza is okay, but we usually go to get their spaghetti dinners. I love the garlic bread they serve with the dinner!   Tongue out

Re: Dominos?

I've never had their pizza...just the pasta. It was yummy. Hubby had a panini. He gets them for lunch at work occasionally and loves them. :) The garlic bread was delicious...getting hungry now...we'll have to head up there again soon!

Re: Dominos?

I didn't know Cassano's was that far north of Dayton..is Fat Boys Pizza a chain?

Re: Dominos?

Yep Cassano's is north of Dayton. There's one in Sidney, Russells Point, and Urbana that I know of.  I think Fat Boys Pizza is a chain but don't quote me on it. It is very good. I know if people who live in Piqua that drive to Bellefontaine for it. I don't know if I'd drive that far for pizza but it is delicious!

Re: Dominos?

Sorry,no Domino's around here! Locally, we have Fox's Pizza Den(a chain) and a few small restaraunt/bar type places. One bar in town makes great food, including pizza. In Olean,Ny(25 miles) and Bradford,PA(20 miles) there are Pizza Huts. They aren't too bad.

Re: Dominos?

I swear, everytime you post about your town, I want to move there!Smile There idea of living in a place where the closest big chains are 25-30 miles away is sometimes very appealing!

Re: Dominos?

I had hubby read your response.....he says if you like to watch grass grow, you'll fit right in!!! Kidding aside, we love it here and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! As I've said before, you are always welcome....just hollar!!Wink P.S...tell Rachel that I am getting very frustrated with my goslings and ducklings(2 weeks old),as they absolutely will not stop spilling the water fount! I've not done waterfowl for several years and forgot how MESSY they are. On the other hand, the little chicks and turkeys are doing fine! Actually, ALL the babies are doing fine....those water birds are trying my patience though!!!!

Re: Dominos?

i have had the new pizza and here is my decision...JUST GIVE ME THAT PIZZA....delightfully tasty.
