"Amish in the News" - Video Version

I have wanted to do an "Amish newscast" for sometime.  Maybe it's a corny idea, but, hey, you never know unless you try, right? If there's enough interest I'd like to keep doing it, expand it, bring in guests, graphics, and just make it a central place to learn about the week behind and the week ahead in "plain America."   I'd love your feedback.  What did you like? Not like?  Suggestions for improvement? (I know there are probably plenty!).

Okay, click here to watch the first edition of Amish in the News.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Enjoyed the Amish news show---keep up the good work---even tho I live in Amish country, it is interesting to hear about others in different communities .  Kiss

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

I really enjoyed it.  I liked it being on You Tube also.  I have trouble getting th sound on my computer so I can watch it on my Ipad this way.  I'm very glad you decided to do it.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Well, I'd say it's pretty unanimous - we LOVED it!  Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming.  One thing I heard about for the first time but apparently it's HUGE is the Kutztown Folk Festival in Kutztown, PA.  It's actually in it's 60th year I hear, and it's got the largest quilt show in America.  The Mennobrarian's blog did a little post on their annual visit there (www.themennobrarian.com) and the festival has its own website (www.kutztownfestival.com).  I don't know if I'm not supposed to post websites or not.  Good job with the news, Kevin - looking forward to more.  Cool

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

I just watched the video and really enjoyed it.  It is a wonderful addition for us to actually see and hear you.  I also love to see the pictures you have been posting! Here's continued success for many more years.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Loved the newscast. Hope you will continue this. I hope you will continue to share your insights of "plain people" with us. I plan to get the book also. Hope to see you again soon.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

I enjoyed this very much, being from New Jersey I get to visit "amish country" only about once a year now, but I have been to many of the places you mentioned in the weather forecast, Lancaster Co., PA, Sugarcreek, OH and Nappanee, IN.  I discovered the amish in Indiana by accident when I started working in the RV industry about 8 years ago. I had met some "plain" folks in the area that were working in the RV factories. They were always so warm and friendly and didn't mind my curious questions. The RV business isn't what it use to be, and the unemployment rate in Elkhart Cty is so high, any idea how the amish have weather that storm?  I doubt they would collect unemployment, do they? I so miss visiting with them, it was always the best part of trip.... I am looking forward to the next newscast.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Well, yes it was a nice surprise BUT as usual I got a bit side-tracked by watching some of the previous ones to be sure I hadn't missed anything.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Having just visited Amish Country in northern Indiana with my BFF in June, I was interested in your 'Amish in the News.'  Thanks for a great video -- will watch the next one too.  Yes, one shouldn't miss the Shipshewana flea market (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).  In fact, I plan to return with my husband in October.

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

I like it all!  Keep on, keeping on!  Really enjoyed hearing the Montana weather for tomorrow!

Re: "Amish in the News" - Video Version

Kevin I really enjoyed it!! I hope you will do lots more. You seemed just a little nervous at first but it didn't take you long to get past that. I really appreciate all the things you do for us to keep us in the "know" about all things Amish.

I am glad to hear that horse was ok. I bet it is hard on them pulling those buggies on those hot roads.

I am going to check out the book you recommended it sounds like a good one!

Everybody have a great weekend!!
