Congratulations to the the 3 winners.

  I was hoping my name would be pulled...but SIGHFrown  it wasn't meant to be.   How I wish there would have been one more name pulled for that piece of pottery the names were in....and my name was on the slipLaughing


Just got back from vacation in NC.  Beautiful weather up until Tues.  Then the heat wave.  I came home on Wed. (7th).  When I reached the Richmond area at noon it was already 105. Wasn't much cooler here either at 7pm.

While in Wilmington we toured downtown and the waterfront.  Had ice cream at Kilwins...could go back just for that...LOL. When we came out  we ran into (almost literaly) a group of Amish people.  Just young ones.  I  think maybe they were about 20 years old.  I was not expecting to see Amish in downtown Wilminton and my nephew said he never has seen Amish in this area before.  They looked to be having a good time sightseeing anyway as we saw them looking over at the USS North Carolina.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  I am going to make it a tradtion to go down every year..until I can't drive. 



The Amish's Cooks Baking Book

These cookies melt in your mouth. And make the house smell sooo good.  Lovina's house must smell scrumptous all the time.  If you eat them right out of the oven better be careful of the apples  they burn..just ask my husband,he couldn't wait.

Next time I need to make my apple pieces smaller. I also used Galas because that is what I had on hand.

Kevin vanilla is mentioned in the ingredients but not in the recipe. I did know where to add but I just wanted to let you know.

Pineapple Sheet Cake

After having good success with the Cherry Coffecake, this one caught my eye.  The only thing I did different from Lovina's is that I cut the recipe in half and baked it in a 8X8 brownie pan.  I still baked it for about 30 min.

Kevin I think you will have to tell Lovina that we need to come to her home and work on the farm to lose all the pounds we are gaining from this cookbook.Smile
