BUTTERMILK COOKIES

1 cup of butter or lard
3/4 cup of buttermilk
2 cups of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking soda
3 eggs
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
flour to roll out (About 5 cups)

Cream lard and sugar. Add eggs, beating well. Then add vanilla. Add buttermilk and dry ingredients alternately. Chill dough for several hours. Roll out and cut-out cookies. Sprinkle each with sugar and bake at 350 until done.
