Just thought I’d share a strikingly beautiful image from the Amish settlement outside of St. Ignatius, Montana. This is a New Order community and unlike others they do worship in a church building as opposed to homes. This is a buggy headed for a Sunday evening potluck and singing to be held at the church. As the yellow sign indicates, the complex also includes the Amish school. You can catch a glimpse of someone riding a bicycle approaching also. Bicycles are used frequently by the Amish here and are handy for traveling the relatively flat terrain that is the valley floor. Dramatically rising behind the church are the Mission Mountains, home to plenty of huckleberry patches and rare grizzly bears. St. Ignatius is unique among Amish settlements because it is located on the tribal lands of the Flathead Indian Reservation.
