Hi, I aquired about 13 boxes of ready to bake pie crust. I would never buy this stuff, but since it was free, I made the exception.

My question is, is it possible to make noodles out of this. I know the receipts for both are similar. And I thought this would be the best use for them.

any help appreciated!

Blessings,

CarylAnne

ps, I'm going to Mishler's in Dalton, WI this afternoon! I've been planning this trip for 3+ weeks. I may even stop at Pleasant View Bakery. LaughingLaughing

Re: Pasta dough made into noodles?

When I think pie crust I think dessert. Mom would make "cowflops", she was raised in Lancaster, PA,out of leftover crust from her apple dumplings.  She would just sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on it and bake for a little bit.  I don't know how long, she just kept her eye on it.  My 2 sisters and I were in heaven when we came home from school and found this trreat waiting just from the oven.

We do something similar with our leftover crust. Roll it out. Spread butter on it. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up into a log. THen slice them and put in pie pan and bake. They're still one of my favorites to eat. I've made crust just to make these. LOL

Re: Pasta dough made into noodles?

Barb is right, the ingredients are too different.  Pie crusts are made with shortening, to be flaky and baked.

What you could do with it if you don't want to make sweet pies is to use it as a base for quiche (a type of cheese pie with meat) or on the top of a vegetable-meat dish like the frozen Banquet pies.  Make a thickened beef or chicken base with meat, mixed veggies like corn and potatoes and carrots, and then top it with a pie crust.

You could use it as a bottom crust, too, but I've usually just made them with a top crust only.

Re: Pasta dough made into noodles?

You could try a small batch, but to be honest I don't think it will work. Noodles are eggs ,flour and water. Pie crust is flour ,shortening and water. I think that when you boiled them they would get tough and rubbery. This is soley my opinion..but what the heck..since they were free why not try it? It just may work!! Let me know how you fare. Smile. Also, have a good and safe trip!

I agree, I don't think they would turn out.  You could always freeze the pie crust.  I often freeze my pies.
