Amish Bed & Breakfast?
Submitted by perry545 on 8 August 2008 - 10:07am.
My daughter who will turn 10 in September, is VERY fascinated with the amish life. A thought came to me last week that for her birthday it would be nice to take her to a bed and breakfast near amish country OR if an amish family that actually run a b&b?? I am really not sure any suggestions would be great!

Hi, the following link should take you to a listing of Mennonite owned B&Bs and Farm vacations. A farm vacation is what I think you are looking for. The Mennonite farm family have guests at their farm and you get to share in the daily routine. I think some have a dinner with Amish families as well. It is a good way to learn about their life and faith. Susan Mennonite Information Center: Guest Homes

It has been suggested to my cousin's and I that we open our farmhouse up as a Amish B&B. Altho' the idea sounds quite lovely, it would require a lot of work ... and with farm chores, a carpentry business, and a writin' career between my cousin's and I, I just do not know where we would find the time required to run a sucessful B&B. But how wonderful it would be to invite into my home all my wonderful-gut English friends! And then to let them have a true taste of what life amongst the Amish is like!

GOD BLESS YOU
That was a nice link. I sent it to both of my grown children and also some relatives who are still living back there.

Perry, a close one to your locale, and one I highly recommend, would be the Cherry Creek Inn in New York State....See http://www.cherrycreekinn.net/. If you want a bit more of a journey, Diann's recommendation is good or email me directly at kwilliams@oasisnewsfeatures.com and I can give you some other suggestions.

Perry, don't know where you're located, but here is a web site for Holmes County, the largest Amish settlement in Ohio. You can click on the lodging link from there. There are bed and breakfasts as well as cabins and motels close to Amish country listed on the site. Hope this helps. http://visitamishcountry.com/ ~Diann
