Re: BBQ Season
"Aspire to inspire before you expire"
Sure! A friend of mine bought a burger cookbook, and this recipe was in it. I was not much for turkey burgers before (very bland) but with the right seasonings it is delicious! I will give you my measurements, which are probably off from the book, but it tastes good my way!
1 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 cup finely crushed Doritos (or any tortilla chips you like)
handful shredded cheese
cumin to taste (I probably use about 1/4 teaspoon or so... gives it a really nice flavor with the salsa. More or less, to taste and preference, though).
Mix all together in bowl. The mixture will be about the same consistency as meatloaf mixture. If it is too moist for you, just add more crushed chips. Shape into about 4 patties. I do the "Rachel Ray trick and make an indention in the center of the patties with my thumb... keeps them flatter as they cook so you don't end up with a round meatball! Grill until cooked through. The last few minutes, add a slice of Colby Jack or whatever you have, and let it melt.
I am not much of a fan or reheated meat, but these burgers are wonderful the next day! Ground turkey can be pretty cheap (99cents/lb) so I am finding tasty ways to use it when I can. It is good in chili and taco meat, but a friend told me it isn't so good in spaghetti sauce.
