I love yard sales and thrift stores.  I mostly go to thrift stores these days due to gas and having a three year old...she gets restless being strapped in and out of the van.  I have three main thrift stores that I go to here.  Forget the salvation army here.  They charge and arm and a leg.  I can go buy it brand new for their price and the things there are worn out.  Once they had a dollar general item with the bright yellow sticker price still on it...they were asking a 1.00 more than it was brand new!!!  All our clothes come from there and houshold decortaions.  I get compliments all the time on our home over things that cost me a .25 to 1.00....then I love telling people what I paid...they don't believe me sometimes.  I find some really nice items. At my husband's work they are all about brand names and what costs what.  I remember one day when I was up there visiting someone was complaining about their wife spending a few hundred dollars on a shopping trip!  My husband said if my wife spent that much where she goes we couldn't fit inside our house anymore.  To me getting 20.00 for my trips is high rolling:) We are just frugal and simple people. 

Ebay and half.com are great for making extra cash.  I use to sell on half.com all the time and would bring in a 100.00 or sometimes over a month selling just books.  It started when I cleaned out a closet in our home and sold all of my husband's radiology books from college on there.  We made almost 200.00 off of everything.  I would go once a week to the thrift stores and my Mom would come with me to help.  I would buy old college books and they sold great.  I found nursing books sold the most.
