I do have a van pmt having just bought mine a year ago this past spring, but it gets 26 mpg on the highway - so not bad at all.  It is a Grand Caravan - so yours could be a full sized van.  But I pay about $50 every 10-14 days to fill up, so not too bad.

I know my dh's sister told of paying nearly $5 per gallon in 1984 in West Africa, so I try to not sweat it!  It does help that I don't have children at home and that we both now work, but we do still help out a lot for our oldest daughter who is a single mother of 3, our yougest & her dh are both full time student with him in medical school.  Our son is also a full-time student, owns his own gym & works another job (yes, it is nice being the non-broke parents of 3 college students!) - but we do pitch in quite a bit.

I have to drive farther to work than my dh, but it is still only about 4-5 miles each way instead of his 1 mile.  Which I may not have to do for about a week now - the office was damaged in the storms 2 nights ago & the bosses ceiling light is on the floor - the computers are tucked away in the warehouse and we have no internet or phones there, it seems - so am to learn by Tuesday morning about work this week.  I could use a week off though and it would be even better if it is with pay!
