My White frosting is made like this: Using the whipping beater for my Kitchen AId, I start with some veg. shortening, add powdered sugar, a smidge of water, if I have it I'll use vanilla flavored coffee syrup for flavoring (the clear kind, keeps the frosting white, reg. baking vanilla makes it slightly yellow - you can purchase clear vanilla in the cake decorating section but it is pricey). I just keep whipping it until it is very, very fluffy- I add maybe a tablespoon of margarine for a little "butter" flavor. I just make as much as it makes, saving the left overs in a sealed plastic container in the fridge for a week or until it is gone. I have to make some this week! My boys are turning 12!
Maybe I will make this cake for them too.
