Re: Oh My, Maple Pie

Which brings up another Amish concoction: homemade "syrup."  For those Amish that don't have sugar maples (which is most) pancake syrup isn't usually Mrs. Buttersworth....instead, Amish cooks often prepare a homemade syrup out of brown sugar and molasses...Maybe I can find the recipe somewhere in my files from Lovina's Mom...she used to make this...another stand-by for pancakes: corn syrup.  Personally, I love corn syrup on pancakes, but I have a friend who says that sounds gross (don't knock it til you try it!:). Pure maple syrup is amazing, but I hear you, LuvM, very, very expensive....and the way I sop my pancakes in syrup that tiny $5 bottle would be gone in about 5 minutes...
