The Omaha World-Herald  (which serves Nebraska and Iowa) has an interesting article about the increasing Mennonite presence in the area.  Iowa has a large and diverse Plain population.  It’s Amish communities, once mainly centered in the SE, are now all over the state. But at the same time, Mennonites of all stripes are increasing their presence.  I’m more familiar with the Groffdale Mennonites, a conservative sect, that can be found throughout the eastern part of the state.  The Holdeman Mennonites are a much smaller group but they too are increasing their numbers.  Click here to read an article about their new-found presence in SW Iowa.
