CRUSTLESS BREAD?For those of you who consider the crust of bread to be as flavorful as a bowl of sawdust, you might be in luck. Sara Lee makes the IronKids bread brand, which is calcium-fortified and has the fiber of whole wheat bread, but tastes and looks like white bread. It's newest product crustless bread should be available to the crust-cringing masses in July 2002. Each slice will be the same size as a regular slice of bread that has the crust. While the crust-free bread touts that it supplies four times more calcium than other white breads, that extra nutrition comes with a hefty price tag. Expect to shell out anywhere between $2.29 up to $3.39 (dependent upon location and availability) for a 16-ounce loaf. Don't expect a wheat version anytime soon. |
