I'm headed for a weekend of camping in the "wilderness", so I best get out of here. Thanks to all who submitted campfire recipes! We'll sure be well fed on this short journey. Diann, one of our site regulars, spent the day in Adams County, Ohio recently. Regulars here know that that is one of my favorite Amish settlements. It's very traditional with dozens of Amish-run micro-businesses dotting the hillsides, selling anything from baked goods to birdseed. Diann shot this photo of the Unity Parochial School which is located in the heart of what is known as the "Wheat Ridge" Amish settlement, located near the intersection of Unity and Wheat Ridge Roads. The school is quiet now, but in two short months it'll be a blur of bonnets and hats. Thanks for sharing this, Diann!

Re: School's Out!
Thank you, Barb, I appreciate that very much! It's just luck, really. My dad was the photographer in the family. He went to school for it. Maybe some of his tips did rub off on me, after all! I also sent Kevin a photo of a covered bridge in Adams county. Perhaps he will post it when he gets back. I took several photos while there, but I'm not computer savy enough to know how to post them myself. Too old to learn new tricks at my age! I'm lucky to know how to send them to Kevin in the first place!

Whether or not you realize, Diann, you take great photos! The sky is very "dramatic", it pulls you into the picture. The school is neat looking; humble in a way..yet strong. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate these glimpses, I don't often get away from the farm!!
