A nice reader from Pennsylvania sent Lovina a Christmas card in the mail (I screen all of Lovina's mail) which was received today. The woman said that she sends Lovina's columns each week to an "Amish-Mennonite" woman in Fresno, California. I'd love to know more about that. There are a few small settlements of German Baptists near Modesto-Stockton and there is a settlement of conservative Mennonites closer to Ventura County in California. But Amish-Mennonites in Fresno? Does anyone know anything about such a settlement?

I lived in Stockton, Ca. back in the late 80's and don't ever recall seeing any amish at all. Would have been a welcomed sight.

There is a Mennonite college in that area- Fresno Pacific University. Perhaps someone there would know. There are Mennonite towns in that area, so I could imagine that perhaps some conservative Mennonites have moved into the area.
