FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Thanks to all the readers who called The Daily News-Record in Harrisonburg about their decision to drop The Amish Cook column. Your concern has been registered. They will resume running the column this week.You can e-mail us to find out if any newspapers near you carry the column.

In other news, an Associated Press reporter was a recent guest with me for lunch at Elizabeth's. The reporter from their Chicago Bureau is working on a feature about Elizabeth and her column. That article will be available on this web-site and in many newspapers soon. Stay tuned for more details.

New to the web-site this week are your latest questions and Elizabeth's answers. Some really good questions are submitted over the web. I simply save the e-mail questions that come in, print them out, and clip them into a ring binder. Then on each visit to Elizabeth's, I give her the binder.

While I am visiting with her children or grandchildren, or devouring one of her delicious meals, Elizabeth will head into another room and sort through your questions. She picks the ones she wants to answer, writes the response on a piece of paper, and then I take them back home with me and post them on the web. It's a neat bridge between the pen and the computer.

On my July 12 visit to the Coblentzes, Elizabeth was in the best spirits that I have seen her in since her husband's passing. Undoubtedly there will still be some very tough days ahead, but hopefully the healing has slowly commenced. Your support and encouragement has been a big part of this healing process.
